The ChickenSoup families had a blast at the lion dance workshop sponsored by Operation Santa Claus!
With a long and storied history in Hong Kong, lion dances are performed to create a festive atmosphere and to bring prosperity. Not only does lion dancing offers a vigorous workout that builds strength and balance, it also helps participants build confidence and leadership skills. Our ChickenSoup families previously attended the lion dance workshop organized by Operation Santa Claus (OSC) and Li Fei Piu Kung Fu. Check out their dance move!
Learning the lion dance was a meaningful opportunity for the ChickenSoup families to stay active and social, especially for the youngsters.
“Some of them may suffer from learning disabilities or ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder). They love activities with a lot of moving and sound,” said our founder Edward in an interview with South China Morning Post.
“They may lack the opportunities to go out and participate in different activities as they always play video games and watch TV at home.”
